Advent calendars have already become a part of our lives as an invariable attribute of children's expectation of the New Year and Christmas. In other countries, this tradition has been going on for many years. There are many kinds of advent calendars. But the most popular are the so-called "sweet" advents, in which sweet surprises are hidden behind a bright picture and small windows.
Traditionally, the bright packaging of Advent itself is made of cardboard, but the base, the form in which the sweets are placed, is made of plastic. And in late December and early January, when all the sweets have already been eaten, tons of unnecessary plastic most often end up in a dump.
However, this year, Ifolor, an international photography services company, has partnered with Finnish company MetsäBoard to launch an advent calendar made entirely of cardboard. The firm but lightweight inner structure of the calendar is made of white Metsä Board kraft liner, while the outer part of the package uses lightweight and firm folding cardboard on which the photo prints are correctly reproduced.
Advent itself has become an additional holiday service provided by Ifolor for its clients. Everyone can now order a colorful Advent with sweets and their own or any other photo on the front side. In addition, Ifolor has also released another novelty - this is the Christmas calendar, created in collaboration with the Finnish pop star Robin Pakalen, which includes not only chocolate, but also unique virtual content in the form of QR codes printed on the boxes. The very same Advent packaging is completely recyclable like ordinary cardboard.
