Recently, among biodegradable and recyclable packaging materials, those made from algae have become increasingly common. More recently, we talked about flexible plastics made from them. And today we want to talk about paper, which contains fibers obtained from algae.

This unusual paper is produced by the British company PlantSea. Of course, paper is not entirely composed of algae - they occupy only a part of the total fiber volume. However, this part is significant enough for one to even talk about saving wood. The remaining volume is occupied by recycled and virgin cellulose fibers.

This paper has a beautiful texture and is visually appealing. The company plans to use it to replace regular paper and cardboard in boxes, bags and office supplies. Most recently, this paper passed all tests and received the OPRL "Recycle" label. This means that it can be recycled in the regular paper stream. In addition, it is compostable both industrially and at home.

PlantSea also offers other seaweed-based solutions, including water-soluble film and agricultural mulch.
