Have you ever wondered why cups for sour cream, yogurt, desserts, etc. are round? Or maybe it’s worth doing differently? Will the changes bring any benefits? You never know until you try. And Greiner Packaging decided to give it a try.

Quite recently, this company launched square cups Cubo, which have received a number of non-obvious advantages due to their shape. For example, it turned out that the square shape is much more effective for group packaging of the product: up to 35% more cups fit on one pallet.

In addition, such a cup holds more product. This means that with the same volume, square cups can be made smaller than round ones. This not only saves space during transportation, storage and on store shelves, but also saves packaging material.

Another advantage was that the flat surfaces of the new cup can accommodate more information and provide more design options. And finally, the unusual shape as a whole will immediately distinguish the brand on the general shelf with other similar products.

The company specifies that Cubo can be made from a variety of materials, such as polypropylene, PET or rPET, and opens up virtually limitless design possibilities. Whether it’s an in-mold label (IML) for seamless graphics, a combination of cardboard and plastic (K3®) for increased sustainability or the creation of sleeve labels, Cubo is perfectly adaptable to any requirement.
