European packaging manufacturers continue to announce sustainable and recyclable solutions. This time, AR Packaging announced its development, which introduced its barrier trays for packaging ready meals and refrigerated food in modified atmosphere, made of cardboard, thereby continuing the theme of the widespread use of paper in packaging.

The new development is able to completely replace the plastic trays we are used to, which are packed with fresh meat, fish, seafood and ready-made food that requires only heating. The presented tray is made of cardboard, on top of which a barrier film is laid inside, which can be easily peeled off for recycling. The tray is also sealed with easily removable recyclable film. The manufacturer claims that these films provide sufficient barrier properties for food storage.

TrayLite®, as this development is called, withstands heat very well. All used films are easily separated from the cardboard and each of the components of the tray can be recycled in standard lines. In addition, the use of cardboard as the main material makes double-sided printing possible on this package and increases its informative capabilities. Last but not least, TrayLite does not require any changes to existing packaging lines, working perfectly with standard modified atmosphere packaging equipment.
