A cardboard box as a packaging for laundry detergent - what's new here, you say. We have already gone through washing powders in cardboard boxes, this is not new. Yes, but not quite so, we will answer. After all, now we will not talk about powder, but about liquid laundry detergents.
It is for its line of liquid detergents that one of the largest British companies Sainsbury releases new packaging in the form of cardboard boxes. They will replace the usual plastic bottles. This replacement is expected to reduce household plastic waste by 22 tons per year. And of course, the new packaging can be further recycled like cardboard.
The cardboard box will be produced with a volume of 750 ml. And by the way, the formula of the washing liquid itself has also been redesigned - it has become even more concentrated, and therefore economical.
It should be noted that this packaging change is part of the company's growth plan, in which Sainsbury has committed to halving its own-brand plastic packaging by 2025. And just a couple of weeks before the presentation of this box, the company replaced the rigid plastic packaging for minced meat with vacuum film packaging.
