Every person has at least once dealt with bubble wrap for packaging more or less fragile or delicate goods. And we all love popping bubbles on this film. But if you think about it, this is one of the most harmful types of plastic used in packaging - almost 100% of this film ends up in trash and landfills.

And it turns out that, on the one hand, it seems impossible to do without this protective packaging, but it also causes enormous harm to the environment. However, last year a worthy alternative to bubble wrap appeared - bubble paper.

PapairWrap is the name of this development by the German startup Papair. This is a specially made paper that looks very much like bubble wrap and replaces it. Its shock-absorbing effect is completely comparable to that of film. And although the strength of one individual bubble in PapairWrap is less than that of film, the required level of shock absorption is achieved due to the geometric shape of the bubbles and load redistribution.

PapairWrap consists of paper and only paper. No glues or plastics are used. The paper webs are bonded together through a specially developed process using pressure and temperature. Depending on the type, PapairWrap is made from 50% or 100% recycled paper. And after use, it can also be recycled like regular paper.

PapairWrap is already in production. And just recently, the startup received serious investments to scale the process.
