It's been a while since we told you about paper bottles. However, this does not mean that there is no news in this area. Yes, unfortunately, so far no researchers have achieved results in obtaining a 100% paper bottle. But…
Already, some companies are reaching the level of market testing of bottles consisting of 85-90% paper fiber. One such company is Diageo, which is presenting its world-famous Baileys liqueur in a dry molded fiber bottle that is 90% paper. Also included is a thin plastic liner and a foil seal. At the same time, the company claims that you don’t have to separate the paper from the plastic when recycling and even recycle the bottle like regular paper.
The first testing of these bottles will take place at the end of May at a festival in Barcelona, where the company plans to deliver a small batch of 2,000 Baileys mini bottles. In addition to consumers’ attitude to the new product, the company plans to find out how such bottles are transported over fairly long distances.
As a reminder, Diageo is part of the Pulpex consortium, which develops dry molded fiber bottles for a wide range of consumer products. And in addition to Baileys, the company is developing paper-based bottles for its Johnnie Walker whiskey, as well as Don Papa rum.
In addition, Diageo released a fairly large batch of Baileys liqueur in aluminum bottles. They can be purchased at the airports of Copenhagen, Amsterdam and Frankfurt. The company is also working on ways to make its traditional glass bottles lighter. For this, a special coating developed by EXXERGY is used.
