While two giants, Paboco and Pulpex, are working on a sustainable composition and coating for the all-paper-fiber bottles with appropriate barrier properties to serve as packaging for a variety of possibly reactive products, British gin producer Greenall's is bringing a simple and elegant solution to the market.

This is also a cardboard bottle. But at its core, it's a bottle-shaped box. Inside there is an insert with the contents, familiar to us from the packs for alcohol. Such a bottle is naturally completely and easily recyclable. After having the drink, tear the cardboard and separate it from the plastic-foil liner. After that, both parts of this bottle can be recycled.

What are the benefits of the new packaging? Firstly, it is environmentally sustainable and highly recyclable, which is quite important now for European buyers and sellers. Secondly, the new bottle is five times lighter than a regular glass bottle. In addition, the equipment for the production of such bottles can be installed right there at the enterprise and it does not depend on the manufacturers of glass containers or returning them. For the production of such a paper bottle, cardboard can be used after recycling. Well, do not forget about the wider possibilities for packaging design compared to the traditional glass bottle.

Frugalpac experts took part in the development of the bottle, and they actually supplied the equipment for the production of new paper bottles. At Frugalpac, this bottle is called the Frugal bottle and is positioned as a paper bottle for olive oil, wine and other spirits.

Already this autumn, it is planned that Greenall's gin in a new package will hit the shelves of supermarkets in Europe, Asia and Africa. It is currently up for sale in the UK.
