Water-soluble packaging for personal care products
French company Lactips and American company SmartSolve have joined forces to develop water-soluble packaging for cosmetics and personal care products, designed to replace traditional plastic disposable sachets.
The companies recently presented the results of their collaboration at an exhibition in Paris. The solution is based on the use of PureNil 0, a biodegradable, functionalized paper developed by SmartSolve. It dissolves quickly in water without leaving microplastic residues. Lactips, a specialist in biodegradable and water-soluble plastic-free polymers, is expected to contribute to the development by creating barrier coatings that protect the packaging from premature damage.
Both companies have been developing biomaterials for several years and anticipate that this initiative will mark the beginning of their broader collaboration. Given the changes in global packaging legislation, we can expect to see new sachets appearing among the packaging solutions used by companies producing cosmetics and personal care products.
