A bottle like a can
Let’s be honest—we all like drinking from aluminum cans. Yes, it’s inconvenient because you can’t reseal them, it’s not hygienic, and it costs more than a standard PET bottle, but there is a certain magic, style, and chic to cans. Your hand just naturally reaches for one.
Now, imagine a bottle that looks exactly like an aluminum can, yet retains all the conveniences of a bottle. Such a solution has actually been created! It is the result of a collaboration between ALPLA and CCL Label. Let’s take a closer look at the result.
The result is a stackable PET can that looks almost exactly like a traditional aluminum can. It is fully wrapped in shrink film, and its visible exterior features a silver, mirror-polished finish that makes it look remarkably like metal. The can features a drinking opening—typical of bottles—and an attached cap. The bottom of the can likely has a recess designed to accommodate this opening, since—as noted—the cans are stackable, meaning they can be placed one on top of another.
The result is essentially a can—but one that can be opened and closed, solving issues of convenience and hygiene. The container is more cost-effective, can be made from recycled PET (rPET), and is itself recyclable. Importantly, it can also be integrated into existing PET bottling lines.
