Blister packaging for bulk product
We'd like to share a real-life, highly unusual equipment request from one of our clients: a bulk product needed to be packaged in blisters. The product was animal feed additive granules, and they needed to be packaged in precise 1 and 2 ml doses. Overall, it was a challenging task.
For those unfamiliar with blisters, this type of packaging is used for small, individual products like tablets or liquid products like sauces, but not for bulk products. This means there are no dispensers of this type. In addition to modifying the blisters themselves to suit the product and dosage, it was necessary to develop an engineering solution for the dosing system design.
We won't recount the lengthy technical correspondence with the manufacturer. We'll simply say that, based on our analysis of the granule properties, we proposed the best-suited dispenser option for this application; we developed the blister geometry for the specified doses; and then, after testing, we proposed improvements to improve dosing stability and synchronize delivery and blister formation.
As a result, the client received a customized blister machine capable of handling loose granules and precise dosing. Furthermore, we provided the ability to adjust the dosage and further scale up. So, we can confidently add this to our list of successful cases.
